Harsh Summer and Soothing Monsoon
The first two pictures represent harsh summer. In this season, we experience scarcity of water. In tribal and rural part of our state, where there is no any facility of drinking water, people suffer a lot.
The first picture is extremely painful. The tribal woman has to walk on a very long distance from her home to carry drinking water in the scorching and unbearable Sunlight. She has been carrying four water pots at a time. This is amazing but pathetic. We see dried grass and rarely green trees in the picture.
The second picture is of drought-prone village approximately 90 km away from Nashik in Yeola tahsil. In summer the underground water level goes down.
Therefore the wells become dry.The villagers face acute scarcity of drinking water. We see how the village men and women risk their lives to fetch water from the deep well. They have rushed because perhaps a water tanker has been poured into the well and they are worried whether the water may be short. The way they are risking their lives, is very dangerous.
The third picture shows contradiction. It is really soothing. It represents the arrival of Monsoon. In the ranges of the Sahyadri, after the arrival of Monsoon, the tribal farmers are busy in paddy plantation. This picture shows it.The farmer is cultivating the paddy farm. The farm is filled with the mixture of rainwater and mud.Paddy plantation needs muddy wet land. The farmer the women have put on traditional rain coats. They are made of bamboo stripes and covered with plastic paper. The Bullock's are pulling the plough in the wet muddy farm. This work is laborious.
