Once in a year we experience the enthusiasm of everyone to celebrate
Teachers' Day on 5th September.
In fact all 365 are teacher's days.
Nowadays it's rat race of people to
be felicitated by some one as an ideal teacher. Some are ready to give up self esteem for that. It is really disgusting.
There should be spontaneous feelings of respect by others towards teachers' work.
A true teacher never overwhelms by the awards and praises by others. Inspite of it S/he introspects her/his work and always thinks how can s/he do better, increase involvement of students in learning, how can s/he engage more learners in the process of learning, always is dynamic in case of designing learning activities and moreover consistently motivates learners.
Benjamin Franklin has rightly said,
"Tell me and I forget,
Teach me and I remember,
Involve me and I learn."
It's very optimistic sign that since last decade there is a tremendous change in thought process about teacher, teaching - learning activities, activity based learning, collaborative learning.
Accordingly classroom practices are being changed and there are reflections on teaching learning process.
Technology has brought tremendous change in this process of teaching- learning. Specially in this Covid-19 pandemic teachers have realised the importance of blended teaching learning mode. It's demand of time to acquire technological skills by every teacher.
Still teacher's importance is not delimited.
Bill Gates says,
"Technology is just a tool.
In terms of getting the kids
to work together and motivating them,
the TEACHER is the most important."
There are tremendous changes in Policies of Education. It's the demand of the nation.
Facilitation is nowadays a key word in terms of both classroom activities and teacher herself/himself.
The question is, even today , what is the proportion or percentege of teachers who have acquired the change in classroom teaching learning process, made it LEARNER-CENTRED, have been giving an experience of collaborative learning?
I don't have the answer but I have some POWER STATIONS, ISLANDS of HOPE in the field of education. They keep me always motivated, energetic, dynamic and creative/ innovative in my work.
Shri Madhav Shankar Ghaytad, a Maths and Science teacher in Secondary school in village Ambe in Dindori tahsil has implemented many innovative experiments and still has been doing ceaselessly. He has established Maths laboratory by using waste material at the minimum cost.
Shri Devendra Patil a very dynamic, enthusiastic and innovative teacher in Zilla Parishad Primary school in Trymbakeshwar school is another example of optimism.Shri Jayesh Kapadnis another Zilla Parishad Primary teacher represents the ray of hope through his innovative school experiments.
All the teachers in Late Vitthalrao Patwardhan Ashramschool, Waghera
is an example of ideal team work. They have always been giving their 100 per cent by all means for shaping the future of new generation in an inaccessible zone of Trymbakeshwar tahsil in the ranges of the Sahyadri.
Mrs Soniya Bairagi, a Secondary school teacher in MVPS' school Aswali in Igatpuri tahsil, Mrs Kirti Kadam in Ramabai Ambedkar Girls' Highschool, Nashik, Mrs Smita Patil and Mrs Bairagi in Deolali Highschool, Shri Bagul in NSPM's school, Mrs Bhatiya madam in a secondary school in Deolali are some examples who are not in limelight but have been serving for silent revolution in education in their respective schools. Shri Maniram Chavan in Rachana Vidyalaya has not only groomed himself as Technosavy teacher but also motivated his staff to do so.
Headmaster Shri Wagh in Bharatratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Highschool, Chalisgaon, Shri Hemraj Patil , a Secondary School teacher in Chopada tahsil in Jalgaon, Shri Patil Sir and Shri Manore Sir in Amalner in Jalgaon, Shri Santosh Rokade, a Secondary School teacher and State level counsellor in Rural school in Pune district have set their examples of commitment and dedication.
There are many more such searchlights who not only show the path to learners but also make them energetic and enthusiastic in their lives.
Shri Laxman Mahadik, a renowned Marathi poet who has retired as Headmaster but the teacher in him is not ready to retire. He has been serving through his writings. Mrs Nirmal Ashtputre has retired in school but not retired in her profession. She has been serving with double vigour.
Shri Navnath Wakchaure has set an example of best scouting practices.
But have you ever thought about the pains, troubles of these teachers? What challenges have they been facing?
No room should be given to the politics in schools. The management people should have one to one communication with every individual teacher.Stressfree and socially healthy environment in school is need of time.
Today is the day that every one Management people, People in school administration, parents and colleagues should introspect on how can we offer a helping hand and keep these teachers motivated.
To sum up with, teacher's importance is never-ending.A Japanese proverb tells, "Better than a thousand days of diligent study is one day with a great teacher."
Hats off to all those teachers who have been, despite of good school environment, motivation and support, serving innovatively, ceaselessly, energetically without any expectation and not lost their self - esteem.
